RTD teleport ticket booking website

The brief

Context

In the world of RTD, teleportation works like conventional rail travel: passengers arrive at a converted railway station, wait for their departure and take turns walking through a portal instead of boarding a train. They can only teleport completely naked, with no metal on or inside their bodies. Before travelling, they need to decide what to do with their belongings and choose the clothes RTD will provide on arrival.

Task

Design a ticket booking interface that helps passengers understand the restrictions, decide what to do with their belongings and choose clothing for arrival before their trip.

Idea

The interface resembles a railway ticket booking service, while accounting for the rules of teleportation, clothing on arrival and personal belongings. Check-in uses a code phrase that the passenger records as audio after paying for the ticket.

RTD home page with a ticket search and a teleportation portal

Home page

Passengers start with a familiar search: origin, destination, dates and passengers. Below it, a section is planned to explain what cannot go through the portal and what happens on arrival.

RTD search results with departure times, filters and ticket cards

Search results

The departures section offers a quick way to choose a time. Below it, departure cards show detailed information and badges for the recommended, cheapest and most comfortable options.

Selecting a departure time or a card opens the details.

Departure details with fare conditions, departure times and a purchase button

Departure details

Passengers can change the options for personal belongings and clothing on arrival, which affects the final price.

The Buy button leads to checkout.

Booking form with contact details, passenger information and teleportation rules confirmation

Booking

A familiar form for entering passenger information. An additional confirmation asks the passenger to agree to follow the teleportation rules.

Purchase confirmation with departure details, boarding instructions and a code phrase recording link

Confirmation

The confirmation reminds passengers where the ticket information was sent. It repeats the links from the email: boarding instructions and a link to record the phrase used at check-in.
